It is believe that Sati (Parvati) jumped into the Yagna performed by her father (Daksha Prapati) and committed suicide after her father insulted Lord Shiva for not inviting them on yagna. Then Shiva carried the remains of her body and danced the dance of destruction through the Universe and the parts of Sati fell in various places, Naabhi (Naval) of Sati fell in Purnagiri, so the devotees come here to worship as this temple is considered as one of the 108 Siddha Peeths.

What is the best time to visit Purnagiri Temple?
Purnagiri Temple can be visited round the year but best time to visit this temple is Chaitra Navratri in the month of March – April. June – July and winter period. Millions of pilgrims come during this time to fulfill their wishes.
